Aims & Principles of the Association
The Aims of the Association are to promote and aid independent companion animal cemeteries and crematoria in the following manner : 1. To promote the use of companion animal facilities to the pet owning public and veterinary surgeries. 2. To set and maintain a Code of Practice to ensure a quality of service to pet owners. 3. To keep abreast of legislation regarding companion animal cemeteries and crematoria. Principles of Operation
The pet cremation and burial “industry” is growing with new facilities opening up all the time. Standardisation of terms and controls are urgently required to ensure that pet owners are not misled by the services on offer. In April 1993 The Association of Private Pet Cemeteries and Crematoria was founded in order to promote companion animal facilities, to set and maintain a code of conduct to ensure quality of service and to have a voice with regard to legislation being introduced. The members operate independent businesses but are all committed to the same high standards of professional conduct and client care. In short, pet owners are assured of an honest and reliable service. With British and European legislation constantly changing the Association will fight to preserve sensible regulations that allow their members to maintain this personal and caring service. It is hoped that one day all reputable establishments will join and a uniform set of standards be applicable to the whole country. In this way the public will be protected and businesses will be able to compete on a level playing field with a strong representative voice over new legislation. |
